WWE Friday Night SmackDown Results—Friday, May 28, 2021

The Usos def. The Street Profits

Roman Reigns asked Jimmy Uso what his intentions were with Jey Uso, as if Jimmy was asking for his twin brothers’ hand in marriage.

The promos before this match were so great. The Street Profits didn’t just cut some throwaway hype-up promo, they actually got the opportunity to trash-talk and it was fantastic.

I was shocked that these two teams were just going to move forward with such a high-profile match with such little build on free TV. But, then again, this is the Peacock era, where WWE has already made its money and doesn’t have to worry about pay-per-views.

I don't know whether to be happy because I just saw a great tag team match, or furious because this epic didn't get more than a one-week build.

Tamina and Natalya def. The Riott Squad

Ruby Riott’s selling was fantastic in this match but almost bordering on comedic toward the end.

On any other night, this would have been a pretty solid match, but they had to follow an instant classic.

Bianca Belair def. Carmella

Carmella’s still having a tough time completely letting go of her “Mella is Money” gimmick as her new gear was adorned in dollar bills.

Bayley appeared to be legitimately enjoying this match on commentary.

Michael Cole accidentally called her BELANCA and Bayley immediately jumped all over him. At least a decade of Karma coming back to haunt Cole.

Seth Rollins Calls Out Cesaro

This was the perfect segment to skip while Tony Khan was setting Twitter ablaze with his bizarre promo against WWE’s Nick Khan.

Seth Rollins and Ceasro is a feud that overstayed its welcome by the time they got to WrestleMania, yet it’s still mercilessly continuing. Happy Birthday, Seth.

Kevin Owens def. Apollo Crews by Disqualification

Will WWE ever let Apollo Crews win anything while he’s a heel?

Kevin Owens was coughing through a promo where he demanded a rematch against Apollo Crews with no Commander Azeez, and his coughing made the promo impossible to take seriously.

Shinsuke Nakamura def. Chad Gable

I was so happy to see Rick Boogs back alongside Shinsuke Nakamura after speculation that he might be used in a rotation of playing other Superstars’ theme music.

WWE is putting over Baron Corbin’s crown more strongly than they’ve ever put over the WWE 24/7 Championship.

Rey and Dominik Mysterio def. The Dirty Dawgz—WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships

Despite a combined 40 years of experience in the wrestling business, both Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode still seem to think a WWE title can change hands via countout.

Dolph Ziggler mockingly grabbing the tag rope and sarcastically asking for a tag was so disrespectful.

This match proved that maybe Dominik Mysterio can go it alone as long as Rey Mysterio knows when to use his music as a distraction.
