On Fox News Sunday, Donald Trump’s former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski—who now chairs the former president’s political action committee—was asked about recent reports suggesting that Trump believes he will be “reinstated” as president as early as August. “The president and I have never had that conversation about him being ‘reinstated,’” Lewandowski said, before pivoting to repeating unproven claims of voter fraud in the 2020 election.
“Look, there are election integrity matters that we need to deal with, there’s no question about that,” Lewandowski said. “When I was in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania after the election results, we notified the media of at least one dead person who voted...but the response from the media was ‘but that person was a Trump supporter.’”
To that, host Chris Wallace pushed back, saying “you keep blaming this on the media. The fact of the matter is this went to more than 60 different court cases and you were beaten in every one. The Supreme Court refused to even hear the Trump challenges, so please don’t blame this on the media—you had your day in court, and you lost.”
In the same interview, Wallace asked Lewandowski about Trump’s speech Saturday in North Carolina, where he targeted Dr. Anthony Fauci, and suggested that not enough had been done to investigate the origins of the coronavirus and the possibility it emerged from a “lab leak” in Wuhan. “If he was so concerned about the Wuhan lab," Wallace asked, "if he wanted, he had the opportunity as president. Why didn't he get tough with China then, when he had the opportunity?"
"We were listening to what the media has defined as the experts and Dr. Fauci specifically," Lewandowski said.
"Come on, Corey," Wallace said. "Corey, Corey, Corey. Wait a minute. You're telling me that the president—you're going to blame the president's inaction on Dr. Fauci?"
