This week’s Hot 100, Billboard’s ranking of the most-consumed songs in the U.S., is flush with just-released singles that reach the roster for the first time. The 100-rung tally features 20 tunes, many of which are truly brand new, while some have been around for a little while, but they only manage to place on the roster this period.

J. Cole and Nicki Minaj both collect more than one new placement, while two other rising stars appear on the list for the first time. At least 10 musicians who have already found themselves on the ranking are back for more.

Here’s a look at five of the most important moves on this week’s Hot 100 singles chart.

No. 1 - Olivia Rodrigo - “Good 4 U”

For the second time in her career, Olivia Rodrigo debuts a new single atop the Hot 100. Only a relatively small number of musicians have been able to do that, and none of them have accomplished the incredible feat as quickly as the 18-year-old singer-songwriter has. Rodrigo has only released three proper singles, and two-thirds of them have started their time on the Hot 100 at No. 1.

No. 2 - J. Cole - “my.life (ft. 21 Savage & Morray)”

J. Cole may have missed out on scoring his first-ever No. 1 hit on the Hot 100, as “my.life” is denied the highest rung by Rodrigo, but he does reach a new high...and he completely dominates the chart this frame. The rapper’s album The Off-Season, which kicks off in first place on the Billboard 200, sends all 12 tracks not just to the Hot 100, but into the top 40 on that list.

No. 12 - Nicki Minaj - “Seeing Green (ft. Lil Wayne & Drake)”

Nicki Minaj almost landed another No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with her old mixtape Beam Me Up Scotty, which was initially released more than a decade ago. The set was properly released to streaming platforms, and it opens at No. 2 on the albums chart, coming in behind only J. Cole. The most successful female rapper of all time added a handful of previously-unreleased tracks, including “Seeing Green,” which narrowly misses out on the top 10. The tune features Drake and Lil Wayne, which surely helped it become the most popular of the three new cuts, all of which reach the Hot 100.

No. 38 - Migos - “Straightenin”

Migos fans don’t need to wait much longer to hear the trio’s latest album Culture III, which has been a long time in the making. The title is set to arrive in mid-June, and now their latest single “Straightenin” has given the band another top 40 smash on the Hot 100. The cut debuts at No. 38, instantly becoming the biggest win from the forthcoming release.

No. 94 - Lainey Wilson - “Things a Man Oughta Know”

Country newcomer Lainey Wilson is enjoying perhaps the best week of her career, as her single “Things a Man Oughta Know” reaches the Hot 100 for the first time, rising to No. 94. The track, which fronts her second album Sayin' What I'm Thinkin', has already broken into the top 20 on a number of Billboard’s country rankings.
