WWE Raw advertised a tag team battle royal to crown a new No. 1 Contender for the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships, Shayna Baszler on Alexa’s Playground and a contract signing for the WWE Championship match between Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre.
Last week’s Memorial Day broadcast of WWE Raw drew the second-lowest viewership ever with 1.557 million viewers.

Opening Segment Featuring AJ Styles
It was refreshing to see a change-of-pace as WWE Raw appeared to be going straight into a match. Unfortunately, the match was interrupted by a marathon of an opening segment with over six speaking roles.
Every week, John Morrison adds a small, but increasingly obnoxious, wrinkle to his "Drip Drip" gimmick and every week they slap. This week, it was the drip stick.
A Miz injury wouldn’t be an injury without a designer wheelchair.
The Viking Raiders Win the Tag Team Battle Royal
There was an awesome spot where John Morrison stopped himself from being eliminated, only to use the drip stick while hanging off the bottom rope. If John Morrison hasn’t grown on you as a comedy character by now, your sense of humor might be broken.
Man, not a good idea to put Randy Orton in there with The Viking Raiders. I had no idea they were that short.
The Viking Raiders winning this match just tells me WWE is saving RK-Bro vs. Styles-Omos for SummerSlam.
Jaxson Ryker def. Elias via Countout
Jaxson Ryker cut his hair and if this is all his plan to look more like Batista he succeeded.
Given the size of Jaxson Ryker’s bald spot, he really should have just shaved his head entirely.
Bobby Lashley vs. Drew McIntyre Contract Signing
Hopefully Drew McIntyre’s droning story about Scottish war history didn’t chase this audience back to the NBA playoffs.
I loved MVP insisting that the contract be notarized like a true business man.
Drew McIntyre can’t possibly think the Hell in a Cell is guaranteed to stop outside interference can he?
Humberto Carrillo vs. Ricochet Ends in a Double Countout
The best spot of this match came when Ricochet and Humberto Carrillo pulled off a Spanish Fly from the apron onto the floor.
Sheamus really shouldn’t be playing off being the best-looking guy in the locker room prior to his injury. He never had a pretty boy gimmick and his essence is as an Irish tough guy.
This was an awesome match but it was obvious early on this was going to be some sort of draw.
Jeff Hardy def. Cedric Alexander
Screamin’ Cedric is really starting to come into his own.
Cedric Alexander just wants WWE Raw to get younger with fresher faces and he’s the heel in this storyline?
Despite cutting solid promos and being positioned as the star of the future, Cedric’s main roster run continued to be two steps forward, one step back.
Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley vs. Nikki Cross and Asuka
Charlotte Flair competed in this match for those of you speculating on her recent “good news.”
There are more strange bedfellows than there are actual tag teams in the women’s division.
Nikki Cross needed Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley to have a full-on meltdown in order to finally get the pinfall, and her and top babyface Asuka celebrated the win like they had just won a word title.
Mansoor def. Drew Gulak
Poor Drew Gulak ever even got revenge against Angel Garza for shoving a rose up his rectum, which by the way, what happened to that guy?
WWE essentially had a 205 Live match on Raw, which may have seemed like they’ve given up against the NBA playoffs, but Mansoor’s character has actually received a lot of TV time opposite Mustafa Ali.
Randy Orton and Riddle showcased their merchandise The RK-Bro merch during this segment, and it’s every bit as amazing as it sounded on-paper.
Kofi Kingston def. Riddle
Kofi Kingston and Riddle messed up a hurricanrana that would have been so spectacular had they pulled it off.
Between his segment with MVP and feuding with RK-Bro, there’s a lot of juice in a potential Kofi Kingston heel turn.
Alexa’s Playground with Shayna Baszler
I was shocked WWE saved this for its main event segment.
“You want me to apologize to a doll?” is a line that, sadly, I’m not surprised Shayna Baszler had to say.
I will say, Shayna Baszler is very dedicated to making this work and has thus far done a good job of playing a tough woman who isn’t scared of Alexa Bliss or Lilly. That is, until she had to cry and run away from both later on in the segment.
I half-expected the doll to explode in Shayna Baszler’s hands.
