The first day of each month is always the best for streaming subscribers because that’s when we get the most new movies. Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, HBO Max, Disney+—all five of those streaming giants offer up dozens of new options to sift through.

But throughout the rest of the month we receive new films as well. And that includes this week when we’ll have 17 fresh movies to choose from. In this article, I’ll highlight some of the most intriguing options. Then at the end of the story, you can find a full list of every new film available this week on streaming services.

Awake (Netflix)

Netflix’s first big original release of the month aims to be a thrilling dystopian pulse-pounder. Awake stars an impressive cast (including Gina Rodriguez, Shamier Anderson, Barry Pepper and Jennifer Jason Leigh) that navigates a world where all electronics have malfunctioned and nobody is able to sleep.

Awake will be available to stream on Netrlix on June 9.

Pinocchio (Amazon Prime)

Every once in a while, someone else takes a stab at remaking the magical story of Pinocchio. This 2020 version (which happens to star Pinocchio alum Roberto Benigni) follows the story of Geppetto’s puppet creation, who magically comes to life and must learn what it takes to become a real boy.

Pinocchio will be available to stream on Amazon Prime on June 11.

The Croods: A New Age (Hulu)

Seven years after the release of the original Croods, a sequel was released—and now that successor is available on Hulu. The Croods: A New Age brings back its all-cast of voices (including Emma Stone, Ryan Reynolds, Nicolas Cage and Catherine Keener) to continue the adventures of the prehistoric Crood family.

The Croods: A New Age will be available to stream on Hulu on June 9.

Killerman (HBO Max)

Killerman, an American action/crime film starring Lima Hemsworth, didn’t get much attention back in 2019 when it pulled in just under $620,000 at the worldwide box office. But now the film is getting a fresh start on HBO Max. Killerman follows Hemsworth’s character Moe, a money launderer who wakes up with no memory and millions of dollars in stolen cash and drugs.

Killerman will be available to stream on HBO Max on June 8.
