Before BTS released its new single “Butter,” many predicted it would eventually go right to No. 1 on the Hot 100 after its first tracking frame. Such estimations are fun for predictors and fans to make, but it’s hard to take any of them too seriously before any data is available. Now, with just the first few days of activity publicly viewable, it looks like all those suggestions are coming true, and at this point, it’s difficult to imagine the South Korean septet won’t snag another ruler on the all-genre chart in just a few days.

In less than half a week, “Butter” has already made history almost everywhere it’s available. On YouTube, the official music video broke the record for the most views in 24 hours, racking up an incredible 108.2 million watches in just a single day. When it was first unveiled, the treatment also shattered the record for the most viewers for a YouTube premiere, as 3.9 million fans tuned in to watch the clip for the first time. All those plays help determine where “Butter” will rank on the Hot 100 next week.

Over on Spotify, the tune also broke the world record for the most plays for a song in its first 24 hours. The catchy English-language tune was played just over 11 million times, and it has barely slowed down since. Listens on streaming platforms are also counted toward a song’s performance, and many tracks have shot right to the top of the Hot 100 thanks to impressive streaming sums.

The tune earns the loftiest debut on the Pop Airplay chart this week, and next frame, after the tune has enjoyed a full seven days of activity, it’s sure to gain quite a lot of ground as well.

The last factor that determines where a title lands on the Hot 100 is sales, and while there are no solid numbers available yet, “Butter” is sure to be a massive sales success. BTS can sell a song like nobody in the music industry these days, and there is a very good chance that the septet’s latest release will arrive with the largest sales week of 2021. The cut, along with an instrumental version (which will be packaged with the original for charting purposes) have both been living close to the top of the iTunes charts since they were released, and fans will surely continue to buy in the coming days.

With incredible support at radio, on streaming platforms, on YouTube and a fan base that loves to actually purchase new singles from the band, it looks like BTS has a lock on the No. 1 spot on the Hot 100 next week, The band is sure to face tough competition from the current ruler, Olivia Rodrigo’s “Good 4 U,” which debuted in first place this frame, but “Butter” seems unbeatable.
