It’s almost that time again for Genshin Impact to release another patch like clockwork. 1.6 is on the way, and Genshin Impact has revealed when it will reveal 1.6, which will be this Friday, May 28 during a Special Program at 11 AM ET.

The announcement is light on details, and this is all they say about it:

“During the special program, you will discover all the juicy details of version 1.6. In addition to that, you can get redemption codes and other incredible gifts that we prepared especially for you. Do not miss out!”

So, they’re giving out the usual collection of gift codes, but I do wonder what other “incredible gifts” they’re talking about. My guess might be something for the Serenitea Pot, given that they have a ton of stuff for that part of the game now, and it would be a motivator for players to get a special item by tuning into the 1.6 announcement.

MiHoYo has not officially announced the release date for 1.6 yet, but using uh, math, we can calculate that it’s probably going to be around June 9, given the pacing of past patches which run for about six weeks or so.

Leaked PS Plus Games For June Are Probably Too Good To Be True

No, I would not expect this to be the big Inazuma patch adding a new region to the game. Everyone predicts that for every patch, but I don’t think we’ll see a new region until around the one year anniversary of the game this fall.

What can we expect from 1.6? Rumors include:

  • The first arrival of a character skin for sale in the store, one for Jean.
  • Buffs to electro heroes which are generally underused in the game.
  • More additions and changes to the Serenitea Pot (which MiHoYo has already detailed).
  • A Beidou pirate adventure.

Besides that, we’ll have to see. I am probably the most curious about Genshin Impact potentially selling a Jean skin for the first time, and rumor has it that it might be priced around $20, similar to how skins are priced in its other game, Honkai Impact. At least they’re not going to be thrown in a separate gacha pool, I suppose, as Genshin rarely lets you purchase things outright, from weapons to heroes.
