BTS rule the Hot 100 songs chart in the U.S. this week with their just-released single “Butter,” but it doesn’t appear on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales ranking, which is the list the band knows better than any other. That’s not an oversight, but rather it’s due to a technicality. The tune is performed entirely in English, which makes it ineligible for this one tally...though BTS is having an incredible frame nonetheless.
Here are five tracks whose moves are worth noting on this week’s World Digital Song Sales chart.
No. 1 - BTS - “Life Goes On”
As “Butter” tops the Hot 100, BTS’s previous champion on that tally, “Life Goes On,” returns to the World Digital Song Sales chart at No. 1, making its way back to the peak. The tune is one of 10 tracks from the septet to appear on the list this frame, with half a dozen of them reappearing after not being present last time around.
When a group like BTS scores a win as massive as “Butter,” it’s not odd to see some of their older, more successful singles surge in consumption at the same time.
No. 4 - Go_A - “Shum”
Now that the Eurovision Song Contest has come and gone for another year, it’s time for the tracks that competed for the coveted prize to be snapped up by viewers the world over. The track that came in fifth place, Go_A’s “Shum,” lands at No. 4 on this week’s World Digital Song Sales chart. The tune marks the first hit for the Ukrainin electro-folk troupe.
No. 5 - EVERGLOW - “First”
South Korean girl group EVERGLOW are back with another new collection, and it’s become a huge win on the World Digital Song Sales chart. The band’s single album Last Melody features three songs (none of which share a name with the set), and all of them appear on the list this frame, helping up their career total significantly.
“First” comes, well, first, as it debuts at No. 5. Further down on the World Digital Song Sales chart come “Dont’ Ask Don’t Tell” and “Please Please” at Nos. 20 and 21, respectively. The group has now landed seven top 10 hits on the tally and nine total placements.
No. 7 - Maneskin - “Zitti E Buoni”
The winner of the 2021 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, Italian rock band, also scores their first top 10 hit on the World Digital Song Sales chart in America this week with the tune that beat them all, “Zitti E Buoni.” The track starts inside the loftiest tier, which isn’t shocking given how much press attention it's received since coming out on top.
No. 25 - ENHYPEN - “Fever”
Last month, EHYPEN enjoyed their best week yet on the World Digital Song Sales chart, as three songs from their just-released EP Border: Carnival made their way to the ranking, before quickly falling off. Now, one has returned for another go, as fans have clearly selected it as another favorite from the South Korean boy band. Album cut “Fever” reappears at No. 25, in last place, on this week’s ranking.
