This weekend the M1 MacBook Pro is affordable by Apple’s elitist pricing standards.

Best Buy (as of Memorial Day weekend 2021):

Interestingly, older versions of the 13-inch MacBook Pro are more expensive — sometimes a lot more.

A previous-generation MacBook Pro 13.3 with an Intel Core i5, 16GB Memory, and a 512GB SSD is $1,799.99 at Best Buy.

Yes, you get 16GB of RAM (vs 8GB on the M1 MBP 13 shown above) but is that worth* the $300? Remember, it’s a defunct processor platform now for Apple.

And what about the M1 MacBook Air?

As of start of Memorial Day weekend in the U.S., the M1 MacBook Air is not on sale at Best Buy, though there are minor discounts at online retailers such as B&H Photo.

NOTES:

*Note that getting 8GB or 16GB for the M1 MacBook Pro has been a huge Apple forum topic. That said, the M1 MacBook Pro performs better with 8GB than previous Intel-based MBPs with 8GB of RAM. And that config is more than adequate for users who are not doing lots of heavy lifting such as video editing.
