Next week, June 8 to 12, will be #GallerySelfieWeek, organized by the Art Dealers Association of America.
Art galleries across the country offer free access to exhibitions and help everyone discover exciting artists and their practices.
#GallerySelfieWeek will celebrate the gallery community by encouraging art lovers everywhere to visit a gallery or look back to a great gallery experience they’ve had over the past year, either in-person or online.
Gallery-goers interested in participating in the week should post a fun, meaningful or creative selfie with a work of art from an artist talk, or another art world moment. For inspiration, they can check out the list of ADAA member galleries to find out what shows they currently have on view and what artists they represent.
They should tag #GallerySelfieWeek in the caption of their post, and, if desired, tag/geotag the gallery and artist. They can also follow @TheADAA on Instagram.
Each participant will be entered into the ADAA’s photo contest to win a specially curated set of art books and exhibition catalogues. Submissions also will be featured on the ADAA’s social media channels, which reach over 142,000 followers. The grand-prize winner will be announced on June 12.
