As her debut full-length Sour starts its time on the U.K. albums chart at No. 1, Olivia Rodrigo jumps to the highest spot on the connected songs ranking with a tune that first appeared on the tally last time around. “Good 4 U” steps up just one space to the peak position on the Official Charts Company’s list of the most-consumed tracks in the nation, and that’s a position she’s occupied before.
“Good 4 U” is Rodrigo’s second No. 1 hit in the U.K., which is incredible, as she collected her first just a few months ago. The singer-songwriter’s rocking tune debuted at No. 2 last week, unable to topple Tion Wayne and Russ Millions’ “Body,” which had been controlling the list for several frames. Now, the two titles have swapped spots, with the teen musician lifting to the summit.
Rodrigo is now the first musician to land more than a single No. 1 hit in the U.K. so far this year, though she probably won’t be the last.
As “Good 4 U” rises to a new high, so too does her previous single “Deja Vu.” Before this week, the second official Sour cut hadn’t been able to place inside the top 10, as it stalled at No. 11. Now, it’s up to No. 4, coming in a few spaces ahead of album cut “Traitor,” which blasts onto the tally at No. 7. In just a few months, Rodrigo has now gone from no top 10 hits in the U.K. to four, showing that she really is the breakout star of 2021.
According to the Official Charts Company, Rodrigo is now the youngest musician in U.K. history to score a chart double, meaning she appears at No. 1 on both the albums and songs rankings simultaneously.
