For summer 2021, Hyatt is aiming to make guest stays more experiential with a campaign that adds on enrichment activities to their hotel bookings.
In late May, the worldwide hospitality corporation introduced “Explor-cation,” a promotion involving more than 40 destination-based activities at select Hyatt properties across the globe.
The activities will have Hyatt guests either partaking in an outdoor adventure, learning something new or focusing on their wellbeing.
“We are always listening to our members and guests, and with the pent-up desire to travel again, we know there is a growing demand for exciting experiences that offer genuine connection, curiosity, and exploration,” said Asad Ahmed, Hyatt’s senior vice president, commercial services, Americas, in a press statement.
Ahmed said that the three categories in Hyatt’s “Explor-cation” program came about based on member and guest feedback. Findings showed that their guests wanted to explore the great outdoors and immerse themselves in nature.
He also mentioned that multigenerational and family travel is anticipated to be on the rise starting this summer and beyond, in response to missed celebrations last year. The third component of “Explor-cation” also was found to have a similar meaning.
“Meanwhile, many people who have placed a greater emphasis on their wellbeing this last year want to continue their wellbeing journey as they travel again,” said Ahmed. “Keeping all these in mind, we knew it was essential to cater to different types of travelers and offer experiences that fulfill their specific travel needs.”
With an overall focus on enrichment, Hyatt’s ‘Explor-cation’ experiences were developed based upon activities unique to both the involved Hyatt property and its location.
More than 25 Hyatt properties around the world are said to be participating in “Explor-cation” experiences. Over 40 offerings are to be made available.
“Our ‘Explor-cation’ experiences invite travelers to enjoy a break from their daily routines and go on a brief, yet purposeful, adventure, learn something new, or focus on their mind, body, and soul to disconnect from daily distractions. “
Experiential offerings encompass:
In California, the Bee Happy at Carmel Valley Ranch, part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, will introduce children and adults to learning about an apiary of 250,000 Italian honey bees, with information on a bee’s lifecycle. Participants are also to try their hand at beekeeping plus will hear more about hive science and enjoy a honey tasting.
Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa will offer Guided Night Snorkeling, complete with underwater torches to prepare guests for a look at what happens on the reef after dark.
At Ventana Big Sur, an Alila Resort, also in California, Master Falconer Antonio Balestreri leads the resort’s falconry program. Balestreri will teach guests about the role of raptors in the Big Sur environment while performing flight demonstrations and holding meet-and-greets with the birds.
