Whenever BTS releases a new single, it’s a bestseller almost everywhere in the world. Even though their new tune only had a few days in which to rack up sales in the band’s home country of South Korea, it has already become a No. 1 on the competitive Gaon Download chart, which ranks the bestselling individual songs in South Korea every week.
BTS’s “Butter” leads a top 10 flush with new releases, including an all-new top three. Landing just behind the septet’s latest English-language cut comes Taemin’s “Advice,” the title track that fronts his latest EP. Both the project and the song enter the race on their respective charts at No. 2.
New at No. 3 is South Korean singer, rapper, songwriter, composer and producer Heize with her new single “Happen.” That cut is featured on her new lengthy EP Happen, which enters the Gaon Albums chart just outside the top 20.
After opening in first place last week, NCT Dream’s “Hot Sauce” falls to fourth, though the full-length of the same name it fronts is a non-mover atop the Gaon Albums chart.
Lim Young-woong occupies the next two spaces with surging tracks, and just a few spots below, he scores a third bestseller this week. Coming in at Nos. 5 and 6, respectively, are “My Love Like the Starlight” and “Trust In Me,” while “Hero” arrives at No. 9. Clearly the South Korean public loves the musician and everything he’s doing.
Up-and-coming girl group Aespa scores a top 10 on the Gaon Download ranking with new single “Next Level,” their third-ever release.
Speaking of girl groups, OH MY GIRL’s “Dun Dun Dance” falls to No. 8 on the Gaon Download chart, slipping six rungs...while over on the Gaon Digital chart, which gives a more all-encompassing look at which tracks are performing the best in South Korea every week, it lifts to No. 1.
Another debut wraps up the top 10 on this week’s Gaon Download chart, with fromis_9’s “We Go” entering the roster at No. 10.
