BTS are no strangers to ruling Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart. In fact, they are probably the most successful act of all time when looking at that one tally, and once again they’re enjoying a truly incredible week on the list, despite the fact that nothing new from the band finds its way to the ranking this time around.
BTS fill 10 spots on this week’s World Digital Song Sales chart, occupying 40% of all the available spaces on the 25-rung tally. That’s an amazing showing for any group or solo musician, but it’s not even the most impressive demonstration from the South Korean septet. What is perhaps most astonishing about BTS’s performance this frame is that their domination is thanks almost entirely to returning smashes, as opposed to a slew of new placements.
Previous chart-topper “Life Goes On” returns to the World Digital Song Sales ranking at No. 1, where it debuted late last year. The tune wasn’t present on last week’s roster, so the fact that it reappears as high as a cut can climb is certainly impressive.
BTS occupy four spots inside the top 10, with three of those hits returning to the World Digital Song Sales chart, as they didn’t find space on the list last frame. Behind “Life Goes On” comes “Dope” at No. 3, a falling “Filter” at No. 8 and “Boy With Luv,” featuring Halsey,” which reappears at No. 10.
Two other previous champions, “Film Out” and “On,” both make triumphant returns to the World Digital Song Sales chart, while “Blue & Grey,” which once topped out at No. 2, holds as the lowest-ranking of the reappearing wins, as it lands at No. 24.
BTS’s surge in popularity is thanks to the release of their new single “Butter.” The tune debuts at No. 1 on the Hot 100 and performs well on a number of other charts, and while it isn’t eligible for the World Digital Song Sales ranking, fans of the band bought and streamed other popular hits from their discography in the wake of all the newfound attention they’ve been receiving.
Half of all the tracks on the World Digital Song Sales chart this frame weren’t present last week, and while BTS are responsible for the majority of those surging smashes, they aren’t the only act to score a notable win on the list. New tunes by names like Go_A, Maneskin and three tracks by South Korean girl group EVERGLOW also debut, while ENHYPEN’s “Fever” also makes its way back to the ranking for another turn.
