This summer, during the months of June, July and August, dozens of new hotels will open their doors joining hundreds of others that opened over the past year. As vaccination numbers grow and confidence slowly resumes, the world is eager to travel again. Here’s where to find some of this summer’s newest and most exciting hotel openings around the United States and the world.

East Coast

In July, Bellwether Beach Resort will open in St. Petersburg Beach, Florida in a retro building, but with modern interior decor that still pays homage to the architecture’s past. The beachfront property has 156 rooms and suites, beach butler service to set up chairs and umbrellas and a rooftop revolving restaurant.

A dual-branded Residence Inn and Courtyard by Marriott opens this month on Georgia’s Jekyll Island. With a resort vibe, it brings a different type of property to the popular, year-round destination, and its waterfront location will appeal to vacationers. The hotel will also have the largest heated freshwater, oceanfront pool on the island.

Thompson Savannah will open next month with 193 rooms and suites; the latter have wraparound balconies. The hotel’s restaurant will feature the talents of Top Chef alum Whitney Oatawka.

Also in town, JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District opens in July as part of a mixed-use hotel building within The Atlantic Complex. When complete, there will also be a live music venue and rooftop swimming pool.

In the SouthPark area of Charlotte, Hyatt Centric SouthPark opens this month with a rooftop restaurant. The hotel is within walking distance of the area’s vibrant shopping scene.

Keswick Hall, part of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, opens this August in Charlottesville, Virginia with 38 rooms and suites and plans to add another wing next year as part of its $120 million restoration.

Champlin’s Marina and Resort opens this month on Rhode Island’s Block Island. In addition to 44 rooms, beach access and a full-service marina with 120 fixed slips, it will be the only hotel on the island with a pool.

Piaule Catskill, from the founders of the Piaule housewares brand, will open a 24-cabin hotel on 50 acres facing New York’s Catskill Mountains this July. Among its luxuries are floor-to-ceiling window and bathrooms with heated floors.

Another Catskills opening is 65-room Callicoon Hills with a “summer camp” and retro atmosphere. The property offers outdoor recreation, locally made furnishings and an event barn for social functions.

Road trip fans have a new series of hotels to look out for thanks to the launch of Bluebird by Lark. This month, Spa City Motor Lodge opens in Saratoga Springs, New York with Parker Beach Lodge following in July on Cape Cod. Tälta Lodge in Stowe, Vermont will open in August.

In Hudson, New York, the Hudson Whaler opens this month with nods to the region’s whaling history throughout the decor. Each of the 16 suites will have its own fireplace.

The 21-room Chapter House hotel will open on Cape Cod in July, convenient for day trips to Chapin Beach or Provincetown.

Midwest and Central States

The Bradley Hotel in Fort Wayne, Indiana opens this July with 124 rooms. Provenance Hotels and Barbara Bradley Baekgaard, co-founder of Vera Bradley, worked together on the design. There’s also a rooftop bar, art gallery and in-room fitness kits including iPads with workout content.

Hyatt Centric Downtown Nashville will open in July within walking distance of numerous live music venues and popular barbecue restaurants.

In downtown Louisville, The Grady Hotel opens this month with 51 rooms as a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Wild Swann, the hotel’s restaurant, will serve Southern-themed fare, and a nightly reception offers guests complimentary wine, Champagne or local spirits for an hour.

With 160 rooms, AC Hotel Columbus Downtown will open this month as one of Marriott Bonvoy’s lifestyle brands in the Ohio capital.

Fort Worth, Texas is getting two new hotels this summer. Hotel Dryce will open this July in the city’s cultural district in a converted dry ice warehouse. Visitors that enjoy the energetic music available in its indoor-outdoor lobby can also download a bespoke playlist on Spotify.

Hotel officials also cut the ribbon this month at The Harper Hotel in Fort Worth. The Kimpton property, part of InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), occupies a century-old, landmark building with decor pieces reflecting the city’s past. Kimpton fans will find familiar benefits like complimentary morning coffee and an evening social hour with wine, in-room yoga mats and pet-friendly perks.

Independent Hotel Saint Vincent will open this month in New Orleans’ lower garden district in a building that dates back to 1861. In addition to a private event center, it will have an Italian restaurant boasting plenty of local flavors weaved into the menu.

West Coast and Hawaii

In time for summer recreation, Huttopia Paradise Springs will open in July as the first West Coast location for the family-owned French brand. Within the Angeles National Forest’s San Gabriel Mountains at 5,000 feet elevation, it’s a great place for outdoor recreation while staying in one of 12 glamping-style wood and canvas tents.

Hyatt Centric brings its upscale, boutique brand to the Californian capital this month with the opening of the 172-room Hyatt Centric Downtown Sacramento. The interior design will incorporate the region’s jazz history into the hotel.

Always a family favorite, Great Wolf Lodge Northern California will open a 500-room resort this month in Manteca. Its 95,000 square foot water park is heated to 84 degrees with water slides, raft rides and activity pools. There’s also an adventure park with ropes course and mini golf among other activities.

In Palo Alto, California, Hotel Citrine plans to open this month as part of Marriott Bonvoy’s Tribute Portfolio brand. The property features modern interiors and a California-inspired restaurant close to Stanford University and San Jose International Airport.

The Godfrey Hotel Hollywood will open in July near Sunset Boulevard with 220 rooms and one of the largest rooftops in the area. Expect curated art displays, four bars and numerous event spaces, both indoors and out.

The Amanzi Hotel Ascend Hotel Collection will open in Ventura, California this July. Off of U.S. Coastal Highway 101 and close to many beaches, the boutique hotel is part of the Choice Hotels’ upscale brand and participates in the Choice Privileges loyalty program.

At the end of July, Thompson Hollywood will open as the first in California for the World of Hyatt-participating brand. Its rooftop pool and bar will have wraparound views of the area.

Once a YWCA until 2004, the new Downtown LA Proper Hotel now occupies a landmark red-brick building dating back almost a century. Arrive hungry because a team of James Beard Award-winning L.A. restaurateurs is responsible for the property’s food and beverage scene.

The 3,500-room Resorts World Las Vegas opens this month on the northern end of the famous strip with multiple hotels including Conrad Las Vegas at Resorts WorldCrockfords Las Vegas, LXR Hotels & Resorts and Las Vegas Hilton at Resorts World. Also on property is a two-floor Wally’s Wine & Spirits, a popular southern California brand, with a wine bar, restaurant and specialty gourmet market.

In Greenough, Montana, the aptly named The Green O opens this month from the founders of The Resort at Paws Up. As an adults-only, outdoor-focused property, activities will center around nature and recreation. The year-round resort has 12 accommodations including an elevated tree house designed like a greenhouse with living roof and floor-to-ceiling windows.

Europe

Matild Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, opens in Budapest with 130 rooms and suites this month as another luxury option in the Hungarian capital. Notable are its loft rooms with great panoramas of the city’s famous architecture and plentiful natural light. Dating to 1902, Matild Palace, an iconic building in town commissioned by the Arch Duchess of Austria, has a twin (Klotild Palace) on the other side of the road designed to create a grand entrance when visitors arrive over the Elisabeth Bridge.

Pet-friendly ski resort Hotel Bergwelt Grindelwald opens this month in the Swiss Alps. With Alpine design, a full-service spa and an eco-conscious focus (staff uniforms are made from recycled materials and there’s a no-single-plastic policy), this Small Luxury Hotels of the World member offers year-round entertainment. For those seeking maximum privacy, up to five bedrooms can be combined to create a private residence.

Croatia welcomes a new Leading Hotel of the World member this month when Villa Nai 3.3 opens in Zman. Its eight uber-chic rooms, located in the Dalmatia region, are constructed of stone and sit within an olive grove.

The island of Antiparos sees a new hotel opening this month, too, when The Rooster opens with 17 suites, villas and houses facing the Aegean Sea. Private gardens and small hotels may be just what some travelers are looking for this summer.

Over on Milos, White Coast Suites opens this month with 22 rooms in time to welcome eager travelers. As part of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World group, World of Hyatt fans will also be able to earn and redeem points for a stay. All rooms at this adult-only retreat include breakfast.

Numo Ierapetra, a seaside resort in the southern part of Crete, will open in July with 132 rooms and suites. International DJs and chefs will entertain guests at this bohemian-style resort with low-rise guest room buildings stretching down the hillside to the beach. The property aims to be 100% plastic-free by next year.

Mandarin Oriental Bosphorus, Istanbul will open in August with 130 rooms and suites overlooking the Bosphorus. This is the first address for the brand in Istanbul with another to follow next year. The hotel will have four restaurants and bars and three swimming pools.

Renaissance Hotels opens a new property in Bordeaux, France this month in “The Old Docks” district, an industrial maritime neighborhood, with 149 rooms.

Continuing the island trend, Six Senses Ibiza will open in July as the brand’s first Spanish property with 116 villas, suites and beachfront cave accommodations along the northern section of Cala Xarraca Bay. Part of the IHG Rewards family, Six Senses focuses on wellness and sustainability, and the Ibiza resort will offer a full-service spa.

Hard Rock Hotel Madrid will open this July in Spain’s capital city near the Reina Sofia art museum. The 161-room, music-themed hotel features a variety of rock and roll and music memorabilia on display throughout the public areas. On the rooftop will be an open-air bar and lounge competing with many of the city’s other famous panoramic building patios.

In Venice, Ca’ di Dio, from VOI Hotels V-Retreats, will open in July. Spanish architect Patricia Urquiola designed the 66 rooms, most of which are suites facing the lagoon and Church of San Giorgio Maggiore. The property is within walking distance of Piazza San Marco. The hotel is part of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, which enjoys a points earning and redemption partnership with World of Hyatt.

Italy’s Piemonte region sees a June opening when 39-room Casa di Langa debuts with some special features for guests. These include the opportunity to participate in a certification course from the Wine and Spirit Education Trust or use the hotel’s unique truffle concierge service.

Baglioni Resort Sardinia opens on its namesake island just north of San Teodoro with a private beach and 78 rooms and suites.

Villa Igiea opens this month in Palermo, Italy. Part of Rocco Forte Hotels, the hotel was built to be a private villa, but today it offers 100 rooms and suites overlooking the sea. This will be Rocco Forte’s seventh Italian property and the second to open in Sicily.

Tuscany is home to Europe’s largest natural thermal cave with a warm underground lake studded with stalactites and stalagmites, and a new 68-room Autograph Collection hotel will soon sit just above it. In July, Grotta Giusti Thermal Spa Resort Tuscany, in a 19th century Tuscan villa, will open just outside of Monsummano Terme.

Middle East and Africa

In Giza, Egypt, July brings the opening of the Hyatt Regency Cairo West, which has 242 rooms, many of which have floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the famous Pyramids of Giza.

Pullman Doha West Bay in Qatar opens in August as part of the All Live Limitless family of Accor brands. The property will have 375 guest rooms as well as 93 serviced apartments. As a business and meetings brand for Accor, the property will have one of the largest banquet facilities in town. It will also be within walking distance of the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center.

Adjacent to the Zambezi River in Zimbabwe, Great Plains Tembo Plains Camp will open this August within the private 130,000-hectare Sapi Reserve. With four tents and one two-bedroom, two-tent family suite, the property is exclusive with a private guide and included meals and safari game drives.

Asia-Pacific

Hyatt Regency Koh Samui will open on the Thai island in August. Guests can choose from 140 rooms, suites and villas surrounded by Yang-Na and coconut trees.

In Vietnam, Holiday Inn Resort Ho Tram Beach sits along beautiful beaches with ample recreational options and swimming pools. The resort, which opens this month, is part of a larger complex including an InterContinental. Also in Vietnam, the Crowne Plaza Phu Quoc Starbay will open with 308 rooms including 10 villas and 28 suites.

In Indonesia, the new Hilton Garden Inn Jakarta Taman Palem opens in August with 168 rooms. The hotel has an outdoor pool, fitness center, restaurant and proximity to shopping since it is connected to Green Sedayu Mall.

Conrad Urumqi opens this August in the northwestern Chinese city in the heart of its commercial downtown. The Hilton Honors-participating hotel is also adjacent to the city’s most upscale shopping mall.

Later this month, two Marriott brands will open together in the same Nanjing, China location. The Westin Nanjing Resort & Spa and CAST Nanjing, Autograph Collection are located near the Jiangsu Horticultural Exposition Park and feature ample meeting space of their own.

In the Oita prefecture of Japan, Hoshino Resorts’ KAI Beppu opens this month as an upscale hot spring ryokan that is part of the Japanese company’s KAI brand. Architect Kengo Kuma, also responsible for the New National Stadium built for Tokyo’s 2020 Olympics, helped design the all-ocean-view-room property.

Open to Americans, the Maldives are hot right now, literally and figuratively. The island nation launched its own loyalty program and is also home to a new Ritz-Carlton. The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands, which opens this month with butler service, fine dining and beautiful views from its North Malé Atoll locale.

Kuda Villingili Resort Maldives also opens this month with a beachfront spa and 95 overwater and beachfront villas. Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa is bringing its French flair to the Maldives in August with six restaurants and bars and a spa among its amenity roster.

Down under, the Melbourne Marriott Hotel Docklands opens this month in the namesake neighborhood that is seeing a rebirth with new hotels, shopping, businesses and residences. The hotel will have four restaurants and bars, 189 guest rooms and an infinity-edge rooftop pool.

Latin America and the Caribbean

With 900 suites, seven restaurants and multiple pools, the all-inclusive Hotel Xcaret Arte will open in Mexico’s Riviera Maya area this July. It counts numerous cultural experiences, a spa and expansive conference facilities among its many offerings. This is the first hotel in the Grupo Xcaret portfolio that is adults-only and has been designed and built entirely by Mexican talent.

In July, the family-focused Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya will open with features themed around many of Nickelodeon’s most popular shows. All rooms are oceanfront suites with swim-up pools. A team of 20 different Nickelodeon characters (including SpongeBob SquarePants and Dora the Explorer) will greet guests around the all-inclusive property. In addition to themed dining options, the resort also boasts one of Mexico’s largest themed water parks.

The Turks and Caicos has a variety of upscale real estate and resorts. The newest address is The Ritz-Carlton, Turks & Caicos, which opens this month on Grace Bay with adult and family pools, numerous restaurants and a swanky club level.

The Morgan Resort & Spa opens this month on the Caribbean island of St. Maarten. On property will be an infinity-edge pool with swim-up bar and a rooftop lounge perfect for plane spotters wanting to watch the island’s famous airport approach with planes landing just over the Maho Beach.

This month, Grand Cayman gets a new Hampton Inn by Hilton near Seven Miles Beach and Camana Bay. The hotel offers a water sports concierge and shuttle to area beaches and dining.
