June is just around the river bend and that means a bunch of new video game releases on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
It also means lots and lots of new video game announcements, reveals and other goodies thanks to the return of E3 this year. Above you’ll find my latest Forbes Games video previewing the biggest announcements and video games coming in June 2021. Give it a watch and I’ll link to the YouTube version once that’s live as well.
Read on to find out more about June’s games and biggest events.
Big Announcements
Expect to see some big reveals from Microsoft and Nintendo this year. Microsoft’s showcase will be the largest presentation at E3 especially now that the company has acquired Bethesda. Hopefully we’ll get to see some Starfield in action, or at least get a teaser. It’s also possible, if not very likely, that an Elder Scrolls VI reveal will take place. I imagine Microsoft will have a number of games from its many newly-acquired studios to present and maybe we’ll get a new glimpse at Halo: Infinite, which was delayed after a lackluster gameplay reveal leaving the Xbox Series X without its flagship launch title.
Top Game Releases
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is easily the biggest video game release next month. This could be the biggest PS5 release so far, eclipsing everything we’ve seen since launch. Everyone who previewed this game behind closed doors came back with glowing words of praise and certainly just watching the game in action it looks incredible. I am sufficiently hyped. Anyone without a PS5—a notoriously hard to find console—is going to be massively disappointed that this is a true PlayStation 5 exclusive.
Other big releases in June include the knightly combat simulator Chivalry II, the big Burning Crusade Classic expansion for World of Warcraft Classic and the cooperative spy game Operation: Tango, which is also one June’s PS Plus freebies.
A bunch of remakes are also landing in June including Ghosts’N Goblins Resurrection, The Legend of Mana and Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade.
It’s not the most jam-packed month for new video game releases but with all the big announcements and reveals there should be plenty to whet your appetite. Besides, there are plenty of games in our collective backlog to catch up on.
Hope you have a great June and a wonderful summer! Thanks for reading and watching!
