If strapping on some plate armor, grabbing a really big sword and hacking your enemy knights to bloody little pieces sounds like fun then you really need to play the Chivalry 2 open beta this Memorial Day weekend.
The game is free for all on the Epic Games Store as well as on PS4/PS5, Xbox One/XSX stores and you’ll have access to various maps and modes until June 1st at 11am ET / 8am PT. The open beta, like the game, will feature cross-play so you can play with or against friends on all these platforms. Cross-play is truly one of the best things Fortnite did for the world of gaming.
I played several Chivalry 2 maps and modes during a preview event not long ago and while there’s definitely a learning curve when it comes to aiming and blocking (in third or first-person) it’s still a bloody good time. Kind of a goofy, Monty Python-esque good time if I’m being honest. But good fun all around.
64-player battles with siege engines and massive castles and weather effects can get pretty chaotic, but therein lies the charm.
The game itself releases a week later on June 8th. It’s one of the game’s I list in my Top Games Of June article, and I talk a bit about it in the video below.
Head over to the Chivalry 2 website for more information on the game, and have a fun weekend of slaughter and mayhem. Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is also running a special free Memorial Day weekend trial so there’s no shortage of games to play.
